RELUCTANT PRESS
"What are you talking about?"
I was seized in a sudden panic that made my voice sound even higher.
"Now, Debbie, Dear," said Joyce, "I didn't tell you before because I didn't want you to get excited. I meant what I said about wanting you to experience the reality of being a
woman, so we are going on a date. A double date! My date is Tom and yours is Bob. They should be here soon." At that moment, the doorbell rang. "What do you know, right on time!" Joyce walked over to answer the door.
I was completely terrified! She expected me to go out on a date with some strange men, looking and sounding like a sexy girl? How could I do it? Surely I would be discovered and beaten up by the men for my deception!
Joyce opened the front door and two men came into the house.
"Hi, fellows, come on in," said Joyce. "Debbie, I want you to meet Tom. Tom, this is my girlfriend, Debbie."
"Nice to meet you, Debbie," said Tom. He was a good looking man in his early thirties wearing a tan sports coat, gray slacks and a gray turtleneck sweater.
"Hello."
"And this is Bob," said Joyce.
My date, Bob, was a fellow that stood some six foot six inches tall. He was very handsome and wore a sport coat of charcoal gray, a white shirt with thin yellow stripes, gray slacks and black loafers. He had a football player's build and kept his hair in a crew cut. A more masculine date couldn't have been picked out of the entire Third Army! His eyes lighted up as he looked at me.
"Hello, Debbie. You look very pretty in that dress," he
said.
"Thank you, Bob, you look nice too." I saw him grin at the way I sounded.
